OCAC Choreography Mondays
Joshua Alvarez - Jazz & Musical Theatre
5pm-6pm
In this choreography class, students work on performing routines in the styles of ballet, Latin dance, lyrical, jazz funk, hip hop, tumbling, kung fu, and Chinese folk. Students learn posture, elegance, grace, and balance through ballet, lyrical, and Chinese folk choregraphies. On the flip side, students learn how to show power and strength through hip hop, kung fu, Chinese folk, Latin dance, and tumbling. For tumbling, we work on the basic fundamentals such as splits, rolls, bridges, handstands, cartwheels, front and back walkovers, and later flips. Through these choreographies, students can become well-rounded dancers. Some of these styles are supplemented into our Latin routines as well.
Passion Y Tumbao Tuesdays
Marco Rosas & Brenda Huey-Rosas
5pm-7pm

In this class, students learn the basic steps and patterns of merengue, salsa, cha cha cha, and bachata to add to choreography.  This is a performing class where students of all ages perform together but also split into different age groups or leveled group to focus in on their emerging skills. As students get better and better, they can then advance to higher levels of Latin dance and performance based routines.
